Life Skills

Nearly every person who attends our programs says, "I want to be independent."

Life skills are what will help make that happen. We should know. Community Connections developed the concept of a Life Skills program that would work hand-in-hand with Day Habilitation.

We recognized years ago that teaching life skills was an important component for success. Because we promote an independent way of living, these skills are a key part of making people more self-sufficient. More importantly, they can instill feelings of empowerment and an "I can do it" attitude.

Nicole Cummings: My Experience at Community Connections

1_Nicole Cummings_Success

I have been at CCI for 11 years; I started out at the Day Hab where they would take me out to do lots of fun things like going to lunch, bowling, and the park. I met lots of nice staff, some of them don’t work at Community Connections anymore but I like the fact that I am able to stay in contact with the other staff members. I feel like many of them are like family to me. The Day Hab staff helped me graduate from that program and become a member of the Life Skills program where I do the same things as I did at Day Hab but better and most importantly with independence!
