Community Connections Inc. Moves Somerset Program to Fall River

Public Invited to Grand Opening Celebration on June 20th

Community Connections Inc., a nonprofit serving people with disabilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, has moved its Somerset Program to Fall River, Massachusetts, signing a 10-year lease for a new location in the Sagamore Mill Complex.

The program cares for 43 clients with developmental and cognitive disabilities, including Life Skills for middle-aged adults and supports in Day Habilitation, Elder Services and Life Skills for those with Alzheimer’s and dementia, allowing individuals to age with dignity.

All 20 employees from the Somerset Program have moved to the new Day Center directly off Route 79 in Fall River. The site’s central location at 1784 North Main Street offers plenty of parking spaces for visitors, staff, and Community Connections vans which provide transport to and from the program.

Spanning approximately 7,000 square feet, the new Day Center has the capacity for 60 or more clients and features floor-to-ceiling windows in the expanded group areas. In addition, both Bicentennial Park and Waterfront Park are less than five minutes from the new site.

“The new Day Center supports the Community Connections vision of promoting community inclusion and improving the lives of people with disabilities,” said David Botting, President and CEO, Community Connections Inc. “In Fall River, we have two existing Day Centers on Davol Street and Hartwell Street which offer Life Skills programs, and we are continuing to demonstrate a strong commitment to the City of Fall River by adding this third location.”

Community Connections invites the Fall River community to join them in a Grand Opening celebration on Thursday, June 20, 4pm-6pm, for a ribbon cutting, refreshments, and a tour of the new Day Center at 1784 North Main Street.
