Community Connections Gives Back
South Yarmouth, MA – The first season of the Community Garden was quite a success for Community Connections. Clients planted flowers, vegetables, herbs, and even pumpkins in the spring and the garden flourished throughout the growing season. Homegrown vegetables were enjoyed in healthy recipes prepared by the cooking classes. Weeding and caring for the plants was also a form of exercise for those who participate in the programs on Whites Path in Yarmouth.
A group of gardeners recently picked the last of the vegetables before the frost came. There was so much lettuce and Swiss chard, the group decided to donate the abundant harvest to the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen in Hyannis. All agreed it felt good to be able to donate the fruits (and veggies) of their labor. The garden project would not have been possible without cooperation and assistance from the Town of Yarmouth as well as the hard-working volunteers from Keller-Williams Realty.
