Community Connections 12th Annual Walkathon Raises Funds for the Developmentally Disabled
Hundreds Enjoy Family Fun Day at Fairhaven Recreation Center
Community Connections Inc., a nonprofit serving people with disabilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod, held its Annual Walkathon on Sunday, October 20 to raise funds for the developmentally disabled.
The event, now in its 12th year, brings awareness and funding to help individuals with disabilities who participate in Community Connections programs in Fairhaven, Fall River, Mashpee, Plymouth, South Yarmouth and Wareham.
“The Walkathon is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said David Botting, President and CEO, Community Connections Inc. “All funds raised from this event help provide specialized equipment, unique therapies, and additional activities such as art supplies, community-based outings and music therapy sessions for the people we serve.”
Held at the Fairhaven Recreation Center, the Walkathon kicked off at 10:30am with participants walking 1.5 or 3 miles on the Phoenix Bike Trail, a flat, paved path. After the Walk, the fun continued with family-friendly activities, including food, raffle prizes, music, carnival games, kids crafts and face painting.
With a fundraising deadline of October 31, 2019, the top individual fundraiser has not yet been determined. The top individual fundraiser will earn a $500 gift card. The Walkathon fundraising deadline is October 31, 2019. Time is running out to donate.
